Dear Second Grade Parents,
Welcome to another new school year! Our school theme this year is “Rooted in Christ” from Colossians 2:6-7. “Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.” As we begin a new school year, we pray that your children will continue to grow in their faith and connect even more strongly to their roots of faith.
My name is Miss Hannah Christian, and I am teaching second grade at Hope this year. It is a joy to have your children in my class! This is my fourth year teaching, and my second year teaching second grade.
Each week, this newsletter will contain upcoming events, reminders, a brief overview of our lessons, and memory and spelling assignments. Please read the newsletter carefully each week.
Schedule
August 23 – 2nd Grade Bibles, Blessing of the Backpacks, Teacher Installation 8:00 and 10:30 Hope services
August 25 – K-2 Back to School Night, 5:30 pm
Summer Reading
Your student’s summer reading assignment is due on Friday, August 21st. Due to school policy, summer reading submitted after that date will not receive a grade.
Binders
Your student’s white binder must be returned to school each day.
Their binder contains:

– Behavior chart
– Memory and spelling assignment
– Reading log
– Calendar
– Class Schedule
– Folders for homework

2nd Grade Bibles
Faith foundation is a central part of education at Hope. In 2nd grade, students receive a Bible which they use throughout the rest of their time at Hope. Please join us on August 23rd for either the 8:00 or 10:30 service in Hope Lutheran Church’s sanctuary so your student can receive their Bible.
Back to School Night
Back to School Night is an important opportunity for parents to learn what to expect this year. Back to School Night for 2nd grade is Tuesday, August 25th beginning at 5:30 pm in the music room upstairs. After the general presentation please come to the 2nd grade classroom for specific instructions and information for this school year.
Communication
Email is the primary method of parent-teacher communication in 2nd grade. Emails will receive a response within 24 hours. After 6 pm, please expect a response sometime the following day.
