Newsletter – January 18th

January 17, 2024

Dear Parents,

Week at a Glance

This week in language we are writing the months of the year. In religion we are continuing our study of the Fruits of the Spirit and what it means to be connected in Christ. Our memory verse was Isaiah 43:1 which reminds us that God knows us each by name and has redeemed us. In math we are measuring objects using linking cubes and rulers. Our choir focus this week is on learning the hymn for National Lutheran Schools’ Week. This week’s reading lesson focused on identifying characters and their motivations in narrative text. In science we began learning about the scientific method. In social studies we are identifying landforms on maps using map keys. In spelling we are learning high frequency words and words with the “ch” sound.

Memory

First grade is learning the Lord’s Prayer for memory this week.

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be Thy Name,
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory
forever and ever. Amen.
