1st Grade News – 8/22

Dear Parents,

Week at a Glance

This week in social studies we are learning about families. In science we are learning about light and energy. In handwriting we are practicing writing vertical and horizontal lines. In reading we are learning about short vowel sounds “a” and “e”. During religion class we are learning about God creating the world. For memory this week we learned our theme verse from Hebrews 12:1. In our math lessons we are practicing addition within 6. In language class we are identifying short vowel sounds.

August 22 – K-1 Back to School Night 6:30 pm

September 2 – Labor Day – No School

Back to School Night

Back to School Night for Kindergarten and 1st grade is Thursday, August 22nd. It will start at 6:30 pm in the church sanctuary. We will then move to the 1st grade classroom for a presentation and opportunity for questions.

Sweaters and Sweatshirts

Students may wear uniform sweaters or Hope sweatshirts in the classroom if they are cold.

Uniforms

Please make sure your students are wearing socks in line with the school dress code policy. As it is a new school year please also make sure shorts, skirts, and shirts are long enough to comply with the dress code policy as well.
