Hi everyone,
I hope you are doing well and having a great week! As Easter approaches, I want to wish safe travels to those who will be out of town and a blessed, joy-filled Easter to all.
I also want to give another shout-out to our class, they are doing incredible!
Math:
The class is absolutely rocking our time unit! We will wrap up this unit this week, and next week we will begin learning about counting and identifying money (specifically coins and making change). I have a lot of hands-on materials for students to use, and based on how well they did during our current unit, I think they will really enjoy and master these new concepts. We will return to subtraction after our money unit.
Reading & Writing:
This week, we are reading a short narrative nonfiction story about the life of Martin Luther King Jr. The class has really enjoyed the story and has done a great job answering comprehension questions.
In writing, we are continuing to work on sentence building. Soon, I will begin providing only sentence starters so students can use their creativity and knowledge to complete their own sentences.
Social Studies:
We are working on our song and project for the History Fair. If you would like to practice the song at home (many of you will likely recognize it), it is “Won’t You Be My Neighbor?” by Mr. Rogers. We have been practicing at school, but extra practice at home is always helpful!
Science:
The class is really enjoying our current unit! Last week, students used magnifying glasses to observe objects such as seashells, rocks, and insects. While there were a few challenges with following directions, they did an overall great job. This week, we will continue with hands-on activities as we learn about asking scientific questions.
Religion:
This week, we learned about the Last Supper, Jesus praying in the Garden, Pontius Pilate, and His crucifixion. We will discuss His resurrection on Tuesday when we return from the long weekend. On Friday, we will be completing an Easter craft.
