Kindergarten News 4/7

May 6, 2026

Hi all,

I hope your week is going well! I do not have much new to report as we are working on wrapping up what we have been learning and preparing for the end of the school year, Fine Arts Night, and graduation. There is so much going on with such little time, but we are working hard and the class is doing great!

Math:
We have finished our unit on subtraction and are now working on numbers 11–20. This unit focuses on counting, writing, and recognizing numbers 11–20.

Reading & Writing:
This week, we are working on journals and number formation. The class continues to show great growth in their handwriting.
During independent reading time, students are choosing both developmentally appropriate and leveled books. They have really enjoyed the freedom to select books that interest them! I am also allowing students to choose books directly from the library (unleveled) so they can use their imagination while reading, this is very beneficial for them developmentally.

Social Studies:
This week, we are beginning a unit on Japan. Next week, we will wrap up social studies for the year by learning about Australia and discussing how Jesus loves everyone from all the places we have studied. We will talk about how, even though people may have different foods, clothing, and languages, Jesus loves us all the same.

Science:
We will be learning about how to stay safe while performing experiments and the precautions we can take to remain safe and healthy.

Religion:
We are learning about how we are the body of Christ and how we do God’s work on Earth by following His word and sharing the Good News with others.
