Kindergarten News 4/15

April 15, 2026

Hi all,
I hope you are having a great day and week! As April reaches its final weeks, please make sure you are getting costumes together for our History Fair on 4/30. We have been working hard on our projects and performances. The class has been doing a great job again this week, they are working very hard!

Math:
We are finishing up our unit on money, and it has been going great! Students are picking up the terms and concepts well. They are still having some trouble telling the difference between nickels, dimes, and quarters, which is very understandable. We will continue practicing with hands-on activities using “fake” money.
After this unit, we will begin learning subtraction.

Reading and Writing:
This week we are practicing writing numbers and names to strengthen skills and build consistency. I have noticed some backwards numbers, so we will continue working on those.
We are also reading short stories and answering simple comprehension questions.

Social Studies:
We are learning about Israel, including its culture and important history. We are also continuing to work on our History Fair projects and performances.

Religion:
We are learning about what Jesus did after His resurrection, who He saw, what He said, and what He did. The class continues to enjoy and engage in our religion lessons.

Dates to Put on Your Calendar:

  • April 19 – K–2 Choir sings at the 10:30 service
  • April 23 – Class Group Picture / 8th Grade Graduation / Spring Sports Pictures
  • April 24 – 2nd Grade Field Trip to the American Royal
  • April 30 – Celebrating America: 250 Years Fair (History Fair) from 5:30–7:00 PM

Other Notes:
This quarter, our chapel offering will go toward the Guatemala Mission Trip. Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church partners with El Divino Salvador (The Divine Savior) Lutheran Church in Zacapa, Guatemala. Each year, a mission group travels there to support and serve alongside their ministry. So far, we have collected $75.99 for fourth quarter donations.

Get Ready to Celebrate America!
Our students have been working hard on their Celebrate America Fair projects, and we can’t wait for you to see their creativity and dedication come to life!

Join us for an exciting evening on Thursday, April 30th, as we celebrate the United States through student projects, presentations, and food.

What to expect:

  • 5:15 PM – Students arrive and check in with their teachers in their classrooms
  • 5:30 PM – The American Float Parade begins in the Family Life Center
  • After the parade, families may tour classrooms to view projects and sample food from around the USA

Students do not need to bring anything, just arrive in their assigned costumes!
