Hi everyone!
I hope you’ve had a blessed and productive week!
We are beginning a new math unit focused on categorizing and organizing items. We’re learning how to group objects, use tally marks and charts to track counting, count forward from any number to ten (for example, starting at 4 and counting on to 10), and counting backward from numbers 0–10. We’ve only completed two lessons so far, but the class is doing a fantastic job and really seems to be grasping these concepts well!
In reading, we’ve been working on a short decodable story called In the Pit. We read one page each day, and the students are enjoying it and making great progress. This week, we’re focusing on blends and the letter F. Blends can be a bit tricky, but I’m already seeing improvement as we continue to practice!
In social studies, we’re taking a short break to work on special projects for our school auction and Veterans Day showcase.
We’re also excited to finally begin science this week! Our first topic is motion, and the students are excited to explore and learn.
In handwriting, we’re taking time to review proper letter and number formation. I’ve noticed some backward letters and numbers, so this extra practice will help reinforce correct writing habits.
In religion, we’re continuing to learn about the stories and lessons from the Old Testament.
