Hi all,
I hope you’re having a wonderful and productive week! I don’t have too much new to report since we’re continuing with many of the same units as last week, but the class has been doing such a great job.
Math
We’ve started a new unit all about categorizing and organizing items. The kids are learning how to group objects, use tally marks and charts to keep track of what’s been counted, and how to count forward from any number to ten (for example, starting at 4 and counting on to 10). We’re also practicing counting backward from numbers 0–10. The class is showing so much growth and excitement as we dive deeper into these concepts!
Reading
This week, we’re working on another short decodable story and continuing to learn new letter sounds and blends, especially those that include the letter K.
Social Studies
We’re continuing our special projects for the school auction and Veterans Day showcase, the students have been putting so much heart into their work! In our lessons, we’re also learning a bit more about American history and some of the people and events that helped shape our country.
Science
In science, we’re learning all about motion!
Handwriting
We’re spending some extra time reviewing letter and number formation. I’ve noticed a few backward letters and numbers popping up, so this extra practice will help strengthen good writing habits and muscle memory.
Religion
We’re continuing to learn about the stories and lessons from the Old Testament, focusing on what these stories can teach us about faith, kindness, and following God’s word.

- The weather is getting colder, so please make sure your child brings a jacket each day. Per Hope’s recess policy, students must have a jacket (not just a sweatshirt) when it’s below 50°F.
- Please label your child’s jacket with their name, this makes it much easier to return any lost items!
