Hi all,

I hope you are doing well and staying healthy as the weather continues to change. The class has been doing fairly well this week. While we are still working on listening at times, they have shown great improvement compared to last week

Math
We are continuing to work on addition, and the class is honestly doing an amazing job grasping the concept, participating, and engaging in the lessons. It brings me so much joy to see how excited they are to learn during math each day!

Reading
Reading groups are really coming together. Each day, students are improving in staying on task and completing what is asked of them.
This week, our focus is on poetry and short stories that can be considered poetry, such as Humpty Dumpty. The students are truly enjoying the lessons and stories.

Writing
We are finishing up our last new letters this week! I am so impressed by the growth I have seen in handwriting from the beginning of the year to now. I am still seeing a few backwards numbers, but far fewer than after break. This is something I will continue to work on with the class.
Next week, we will begin guided short sentence writing. I will provide a sentence for students to trace, then write independently, and finally draw a picture to match the sentence.

Science
We are continuing our Earth and Sun unit. The class has shown great interest in science and the solar system. We will also begin discussing different types of weather and how to read weather signs to understand and know when events such as big storms or tornadoes may occur.

Social Studies
This week, we are continuing to learn about Peru and are beginning to explore Europe.

Religion
The class loves learning about Jesus and the miracles He performed while He was on Earth, as well as how He continues to perform miracles today. We have been having more frequent discussions about Jesus and His love. Seeing their hearts so full of the Holy Spirit and their desire to grow closer to God is truly heartwarming.

Memory
We have officially begun Memory!
Our memory verse for this week is:
“As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” — Joshua 24:15
