February 18, 2026

Hi everyone,

I hope you are doing well and staying healthy as the weather continues to change. We have had a wonderful week in kindergarten! The students are listening well and meeting expectations, and I am so proud of their growth.

Math
We have officially completed our unit on addition! Next, we will begin our new unit on measurement. I am excited for this unit because it gives us many opportunities to use manipulatives and engage in hands-on learning experiences.

Reading
Reading groups are really coming together. Each day, students are improving in staying on task and completing their assigned work. This week, we are reading a short fiction story titled The Best Story.

Writing
We have begun using our journals! Students will start writing one independent sentence (with prompting and guidance). After writing, they will draw a picture that matches their sentence. It is so exciting to see their confidence growing in writing!

Science
We are continuing our Earth and Sun unit. This week’s focus is on dirt and water and how they help our planet grow plants and provide food for both people and animals.

Social Studies
We are continuing to explore Europe. We have discussed and looked at monuments such as Tower Bridge and Big Ben. We have also talked about members of the monarchy, including queens, kings, princes, and princesses.

February is Black History Month, and throughout the month we will be learning about and discussing important figures and events in Black history. We are excited to celebrate the achievements, contributions, and impact of Black leaders such as MLK, Rosa Parks, and Harriet Tubman, who have helped shape our country and our world.

Religion
The class truly enjoys learning about Jesus and the miracles He performed while He was on Earth, as well as how He continues to work in our lives today. We have been having meaningful discussions about His love. Watching their hearts grow and their desire to know God more deeply is incredibly heartwarming. We will be discussinhg lent as it began yesterday.

Memory Verse
“Be kind to one another. Build each other up.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:11
