Hello Families,
I hope you’re all having a blessed week! The first week of school is already flying by, and I’m so excited to see you at Back to School Night on Thursday, August 21st. The evening will begin at 5:30 PM with a PTL meeting in the music room (upstairs). Please note that this event is for parents only, but childcare will be provided.
What We’ve Been Learning This Week:
✦ Bible & Devotions
We’ve been working on memorizing the following:
- The Pledge of Allegiance
- The Pledge to the Bible
- The Pledge to the Cross
- The Lord’s Prayer
- Luther’s Evening Prayer
- Our before- and after-lunch prayers
– Math
Students are learning to sort objects by color, shape, and size. While this was a bit challenging at first, I’ve seen great improvement and effort from everyone!
– Handwriting
We’ve been practicing lines and have started learning how to write our names.
– Literacy
This week, we focused on the letters M and T. Students read a short decodable story, identified words containing M and T sounds, and practiced writing the letters.
-Religion
We’ve explored the Creation Story and the story of Adam and Eve. We also enjoyed singing the “Arky Arky” song about Noah’s Ark!
– Technology
We briefly introduced typing skills, focusing on correct hand placement on the home row.
Reminders & Upcoming Dates:
- Please check your child’s daily folder and initial the behavior chart each evening. Also, review the contents of the yellow Thursday folder for important announcements and upcoming events.
- MAP Testing begins Monday, August 26th. Kindergarten students will test for just 30 minutes per day. More details will be shared soon.
- Early Dismissal on Wednesday, August 27th.
- No School on Monday, September 1st.
