(Veterans Day Vectors by Vecteezy)
Veterans Day – We are looking forward to showing our appreciation for veterans tomorrow. Our Veterans Day presentation will be in the church sanctuary at 1:30 p.m. Students should wear their uniform polo shirts that day rather than spirit-wear t-shirts. No silly socks, please. This is a program for our veterans rather than parents. We encourage all veterans and those who are on active duty to attend.
Culver’s Spirit Event– November 13th from 11:00 am – 9:00 pm at the Lenexa location. You must present a flier (that you will find in the Thursday envelope) when ordering.
Operation Christmas Child – Thanks to all who participated in filling boxes for Operation Christmas Child this year. We offered them up during our chapel service on Wednesday along with our prayers for those who will receive them.
Christmas Families – Our school will also be sharing the love of Christ this Christmas by sharing gifts of food, clothing, and other items with families who are less fortunate. Hope is adopting 4 families this year. Watch for more information about how you can help with this mission. Next week, we will continue to collect grocery items. On Tuesday, our class is asked to donate 1 spaghetti sauce, tuna, salsa, canned chicken, etc.. Thursday is boxed item day. Please donate rice, mac & cheese, crackers, pasta noodles, hamburger helper, boxed pizza mix….(you get the idea).
For reading, we will be using the book, Thanksgiving on Thursday, by Mary Pope Osborne, for a book study. The students will work with a Reader’s Notebook as we read this historical fiction.
Book Reports – Our book reports for this quarter will be in the form of a poster. You will find a sheet with directions and a rubric in this week’s Thursday envelope. I am also attaching a link below. Completed posters will be due on Monday, December 11.
Spelling words for next week:

Memory work for November 15:
The Tenth Commandment: You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or his manservant or maidservant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.
What does this mean? We should fear and love God so that we do not entice or force away our neighbor’s wife, workers, or animals, or turn them against him, but urge them to stay and do their duty.
