Happy Epiphany this weekend! What a joy to focus on the greatest gift of all! May we seek the Savior as the wise men did so many years ago. I hope that everyone has enjoyed the Christmas break and is looking forward to the blessings of this new year!
Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!
I would like to thank you for the generous Christmas gifts, cards, prayers, support, and messages of Christmas cheer. I am overwhelmed by your generosity!
We are off and running in 2024! January will be a busy month! This week we are getting back into routine and focusing on reviewing first-semester concepts and the end of the Christmas season and moving into the season of Epiphany. Next week we will be starting new units in science and social studies, and finishing unit 3 in reading. In math, we continue to work with multiplication facts.
Parent/Teacher conferences are coming up quickly. These conferences are mandatory. Report cards will be shared during conferences. Please sign up using the link below. If you are not able to meet during the times I have available, please let me know as soon as possible so we can schedule a conference. Conference Sign Up Link
National Lutheran School Week is January 21-26 this year. 3rd-6th graders will sing at the 10:30 service on Sunday, January 21.
In today’s envelope, you will find a permission slip for an all-school field trip to go bowling on Thursday, January 25. We are asking for them to be returned by next Friday so that we have transportation in place. (Please be sure to indicate if you are available to drive, and the number of seats that you have available for our class, especially if you have students in other grades as well.)
Watch for more information about the week’s activities soon!
The last week of December was uncommonly warm, but January may be different. It is now winter after all. Please make sure that your child is ready for the colder weather as well. We will go outside for recess whenever possible to get fresh air. (We will not go outside when the temperatures drop into the lower teens or the wind chill is in the single digits. I don’t want to be out then either!) We will, however, go out when it is freezing temperatures. Hats, gloves or mittens, and a warm coat are important – even when we are only outside for 15 minutes.
