Newsletter – March 21st

March 20, 2024

I hope that everyone had a restful spring break and has had time to adjust to our time change. I love the extra daylight in the evening, but it was strange to be driving to school in the dark again!

Report cards
Report cards for the 3rd quarter are in today’s envelope.  Please sign and return the envelope, but the report card is yours to keep. We will be using the envelopes one more time in May. Third-quarter students are transitioning to taking more responsibility for their work and it is not unusual to see their percentages drop a little.  At this point, I do not hand back papers multiple times to finish or to point out directions again for them to follow before I take a grade on the paper.  Corrections are averaged in after they are made, but they cannot receive full credit as if the mistakes were never made.

Tri-Fold Boards
Please purchase the tri-fold boards from the school for the science fair project. Each student needs to bring in $6. They get their choice of blue, red, yellow, or green for their boards. It is first come first serve for the boards for the whole school. Red and blue boards are the first to go! Purchasing tri-fold board from the school is apart of the student’s grade.

4th Quarter Chapel Offering
On Wednesday we collect Chapel offerings. In the Fourth Quarter, we are supporting the Guatemala Mission Trip. Please remember to send your child with a weekly offering.

KinderKonzert with the Kansas City Symphony
Field Trip Permission Slips are coming home in the Thursday envelope this week for the Kansas City Symphony KinderKonzert Trip on April 16th. These need to be signed and returned by Thursday, March 28th. If you can drive, please be sure to let me know how many you can take in your car.

Attention!
My class has a tradition of making egg trees for Easter during Holy Week. Your child will need the following on Monday morning, March 25:

  • 1 – 6”-8” clay pot (clean, with price tag completely removed)
  • 1 dozen blown-out eggs (RINSED and Drained!)
  • 1 tree branch (It should be about 18″-24″ tall with plenty of other little branches to hang our eggs on.)

I will supply all the other materials needed. Please do not send these items into the classroom (especially branches) until next week.

Read-A-Thon!
Hope Lutheran School has decided to hold a Read-A-Thon this year! Read-A-Thons actually get your reader excited about reading and it gives friends and family the opportunity to encourage your child to read even more.

Our Read-A-Thon starts Monday April 8, 2024. About one week before our Read-A-Thon starts we will send home instructions on how to activate your reader’s personal page. This is where you will be able to view and record their progress.

We encourage you to activate your reader’s account today by clicking on https://www.read-a-thon.com/readers/r/313137323738 and following the simple instructions. We’ve chosen Read-A-Thon because it will not take much of your time, gives your child a reason to read, and helps in the development of stronger reading skills. We hope EVERYONE participates.

Memory for March 27:   The Third Article: Sanctification
What does this mean?  (Part 3)
In this Christian church He daily and richly forgives all my sins and the sins of all believers.
On the Last Day He will raise me and all the dead, and give eternal life to me and all believers in Christ.
