Third Grade News, 1/16

January 15, 2025

I look forward to meeting with parents during our Parent/Teacher conferences this afternoon and evening. You will receive first-semester report cards and it will give us a chance to talk about progress and goals for this semester.

It has been cold and snowy January so far. I am looking forward to warmer temperatures for a few days and cleared roadways! I know that the kids have enjoyed the snow days, but it is good to get back into our normal schedule again. Thanking God for the blessings of warmth and safety!

Please make sure that your child is ready for any kind of weather. We will be going outside for recess whenever we can to get fresh air. Students are required to wear a coat or jacket when temps are below 50, so hoodies were OK in the afternoons this week. We also go out when the temps drop, and the air is cold! (We will not go outside when the temps. drop into the lower teens or wind chill is in the single digits. I don’t want to be out then either!) We will, however, go out when it is freezing temperatures. Hats, gloves or mittens, and a warm coat is important – even when we are only outside for 15 minutes.

Next week we will continue our work with biographies through another book study. This time we will be reading the book Helen Keller. This quarter our book report will be a biographical timeline. We will use Helen Keller as an example of what to expect for this assignment. The class will choose the person (and book) that they would like to present to the class as soon as we finish Helen Keller.
