Geography Bee – Next week, we will compete in our classroom geography bee. We will select 2 finalists (with 1 alternate) who will represent our class at the all-school Geography Bee on February 26th.
Open House – We have an Open House tonight, February 6th. Parents are invited to come to visit your child’s classroom for next year. The evening is also open to anyone who is interested in attending Hope next year. We look forward to seeing you and new faces too!
Book report – Project information and rubric for our biography book reports are in this week’s envelope. For this book report, they will be making a timeline of their person. Students have access to colored paper in the classroom to use for this project if needed. The due date is Friday, February 28. All of the students have selected their biographies to read. I am encouraging them to jot down important dates and events as they are reading so that they have the information for their timelines.

Permission slips for our next field trip are in today’s Thursday envelope. Please fill it out and return it to school by next Thursday so we can arrange transportation by bus if needed.
Our classroom Valentine’s party will be on Friday, Feb. 14. As you are making out valentines, please include everyone in the class. Please have your child sign his/her name on the Valentine so the recipient knows whom to thank. (Here is a list of student names for our class: Vada, Rosalie, David, Luke, Killian, Harper, Charlotte, Alina, and Lucy.) This year we will decorate bags at school to collect our valentines, so students will not be making and/or bringing Valentine boxes from home.
Redo/Corrections Policy reminder – Assignments that receive less than 75% are eligible for a redo. Assignments will go home each week in the Thursday envelope. Corrections must be turned in by the following week to receive any additional points. Quizzes and tests are not included as redo assignments. *Each redo assignment needs to be completed on a separate piece of paper and stapled to the original assignment. The first page should be the redo assignment with the heading of the assignment that was redone, along with the date and name of the student. Students will only need to complete/redo the questions that were missed, not the whole assignment.
