Third Grade News, 2/20

February 19, 2025

What a lot of snowy days we have had this month! The forecast for next week is warmer weather, so maybe this last round of snow will melt quickly. Please remember that we will be going outside for recess when temperatures are in the 20s, so it is important to have the proper cold-weather clothing.

Between Valentine’s Day activities, Presidents Day, and snow days, not many papers are coming home in this week’s envelope, but be assured that there is still lots of learning going on!

Student Ushers – The season of Lent begins with Ash Wednesday and continues up until Easter. 3rd-4th grades have been asked to help with handing out service folders and ushering for the 4:00 Wednesday Lenten Services beginning on March 12th. This is an opportunity for the students to be involved in a way that they enjoy and can be of service to the congregation that supports our school in so many ways. Student helpers can stay with me after school, and I will accompany them to the sanctuary until after the service. Please use this Sign-Up Genius to indicate which service(s) your child could be available to serve. Your child is not expected to serve every week, but please indicate any/all weeks that it would be possible.  Lenten student usher sign-up

Book report – Project information and rubric for our biography book reports are in this week’s envelope. For this book report, they will be making a timeline of their person.  Students have access to colored paper in the classroom to use for this project if needed. The due date is Friday, February 28. All of the students have selected their biographies to read. I am encouraging them to jot down important dates and events as they are reading so that they have the information for their timelines.

Redo/Corrections Policy reminder – Assignments that receive less than 75% are eligible for a redo. Assignments will go home each week in the Thursday envelope.  Corrections must be turned in by the following week to receive any additional points.  Quizzes and tests are not included as redo assignments. *Each redo assignment needs to be completed on a separate piece of paper and stapled to the original assignment.  The first page should be the redo assignment with the heading of the assignment that was redone, along with the date and name of the student.  Students will only need to complete/redo the questions that were missed, not the whole assignment.

Spelling – With missing days and a late start this week, we will continue with our homophones list next week. Keep practicing last week’s list. *The students will need to know which spelling to use when the word is given in a sentence.

Memory for February 26: The Second Article: Redemption
What does this mean?  (Part 3)
that I may be His own and live under Him in His kingdom and serve Him in everlasting righteousness, innocence, and blessedness, just as He is risen from the dead, lives and reigns to all eternity.
This is most certainly true.
