Mite Box Collection Extended!
We encourage all students at Hope Lutheran School to fill their Mite Box and bring it to chapel on April 2nd

Serve-a-thon
At Hope Lutheran School, we are called to serve others as the hands and feet of Christ. This year, we are excited to do our Serve-A-Thon, which is like our traditional Walk-A-Thon, as a way to actively live out our faith by reaching out and making a difference in the Johnson County community.
During the week of April 5th through the 9th, students will dedicate their time and energy to meaningful service projects throughout our city. From preschoolers serving on campus to older students working at various locations, each child will experience the joy of giving back. Through this, we hope they will see firsthand how their kindness and compassion can be a blessing to others.
As part of the Serve-A-Thon, students will raise funds to support Hope Lutheran School. Our goal is $32,000, which will go toward enhancing our school’s ever-evolving technology needs. Leading up to the event, students will collect pledges for the service project their class will complete. In addition, we will be giving LUMA 10% of our proceeds to support their mission.
Third Grade is planning to use their energy to help with some yardwork. Watch for more details to come home soon!

KITE Testing
We are taking our KITE tests between March 27-April 11. KITE testing is required by the state of Kansas. It is our state assessment test. It begins in third grade, so this is the first time our class will experience this format. We will spread it over 4 different days. There are 2 sections of both English/Language Arts and Math. Please make sure your student arrives on time to school, has a good breakfast, and gets plenty of sleep while we are testing.
Thursday morning, March 27th – Math
Tuesday morning, April 1st – Math
Thursday morning, April 3rd – English Language Arts
Wednesday, April 9th – English Language Arts

Advanced notice!
My class has a tradition of making egg trees for Easter during Holy Week. Your child will need the following on Monday morning, April 14:

  • 1 – 6”-8” clay pot (clean, with price tag completely removed)
  • 1 dozen blown out eggs (RINSED!)
  • 1 tree branch (It should be about 18″-24″ tall with plenty of other little branches to hang our eggs on.)

I will supply all the other materials needed. Please do not send these items into the classroom (especially branches) until Holy Week.

Make-up Snow Days
We have THREE snow days built into our calendar this year. We will be making up one day on April 25th.

Memory for April 2:  The Third Article: Sanctification
What does this mean?  (Part 3)
In this Christian church He daily and richly forgives all my sins and the sins of all believers.
On the Last Day He will raise me and all the dead, and give eternal life to me and all believers in Christ.
This is most certainly true.
