Third grade is a growing year! We are working to develop good study habits, keeping track of assignments in our planners, turning in work on time, following written directions, and taking responsibility for our actions. Please encourage your young scholars, but let them learn by doing things for themselves. Support them, but don’t take away their responsibilities. Celebrate their successes and show empathy when they fall, and help them get back up to try again.
Planners/Assignment Books – One way to help your child is to review their planner with them each day. They should bring their homework folder home every day, even if they have no written homework left to complete. (Please note that homework should always come back to school with them the next day, even if it is not completed. They may be able to complete it at school and avoid having a late paper. If it is left at home to finish, the choice of a late assignment has already been made.)
Redo assignments – assignments to be redone have a percentage less than 75%, or will have a note that says “Please redo”. On a separate piece of paper, please have your student put their name, date, and the assignment that is being redone. Both the original assignment and the redo need to be attached together and turned in by Monday each week. Please contact me if there are any questions about the redo assignments. Redoing the assignments will help students focus on problem areas and help them prepare for testing.
School Scoop – Third grade has been switched from the K-3 Scoop to the 3-6 School Scoop. If you need to look back at information, you will find a link to it by clicking the “School Scoop” tab at the top of the page. The Scoop provides additional information and reminders relevant to all our classrooms. Please be sure to read it. It is sent out to you through your email from one of the 3rd-6th grade teachers.
Parent/Teacher Conferences – Conferences are scheduled for Thursday afternoon and evening on September 19th and again on Friday the 20th. Please use this link to the Sign-Up Genius to choose your conference time. Please get in touch with me if you have questions or cannot find a time that works for you. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/60B0B4DABAE2DA13-50968313-2024
