Third Grade News 9/11

September 10, 2025

Thank you to all who joined us at the Fall Carnival for fun and fellowship!

Parent/Teacher Conferences –  I am looking forward to meeting with you at conferences next week. We are meeting so that we can work as a team to see how we can best help your student succeed this year. We will go over the beginning of the year testing and discuss progress and goals. We have set aside Thursday afternoon or Friday to be able to meet with you. Please refer to the SignUp Genius for your scheduled time. If you have not signed up for your time yet, please make it a priority. Here is the link for you again: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/60B0B4DABAE2DA13-58236125-2025

All students who go to extended care after the early dismissal on September 18th must bring their own lunch. School lunch will not be provided.

Yellow Thursday envelopes will go home each week in your child’s backpack. Please check these for graded work and announcements from the office. Please mark church/Sunday school attendance on the Thursday envelopes. Thursday envelopes should be returned to the classroom each Monday.

Following Directions – In the papers that are coming home in the envelopes today, you may find some with a number of points counted off for not following directions.  We spent a great deal of time emphasizing the directions and the importance of following them (and even gave them multiple reminders during their work time!).  Please go over these papers with your child.  Attending to directions is a very important skill that they will use throughout the years.

Redo assignments – assignments to be redone have a percentage less than 75% with a note that says “Please redo”. On a separate piece of paper, please have your student put their name, date, and the assignment that is being redone. Both the original assignment and the redo need to be attached and turned in by Monday of each week. Please get in touch with me if there are any questions about the redo assignments. Redoing the assignments will help students focus on problem areas and help them prepare for testing.

Math – We are continuing to work on rounding, and next week we will be working on addition of numbers up to 3 digits with regrouping.

Social Studies – 3rd-grade students are learning about “World Regions” this year. We are currently learning about the region of Africa.

Science – We are starting our chapter about force and motion in science. We will also examine simple machines.

The Third Commandment
Remember the Sabbath Day by keeping it holy.
What does this mean? We should fear and love God so that we do not despise preaching and His Word, but hold it sacred and gladly hear and learn it.

School Pictures – will take place on September 25th. Students may wear a non-uniform shirt with uniform bottoms. If girls choose to wear a dress for school pictures, they must bring a full uniform to change into.
