3rd grade News, 10/9

October 8, 2025

I hope everyone enjoyed Fall Break. We were busy hosting our District Conference at the beginning of the week, and the LEA Convocation at the end of the week was very uplifting with many fantastic speakers.

End of First Quarter – The end of the 1st quarter is on Friday, October 17th. All absent, missing, and incomplete work must be turned in by Thursday, October 16th. October 17th is also an early dismissal day. 3rd grade dismisses at 11:50. Extended care will not be available.

We have been learning about Martin Luther during our religion time this week. We are also working on a Reformation project.

Book-It  – We are participating in the Pizza Hut Book-It Program this year. Please use the monthly reading calendars to keep track of the number of minutes read each day.  Remember that our goal is to read for at least 20 minutes, 6 out of 7 days each week. Please keep track of the minutes for Book-It on the calendar to turn in at the end of the month. All those who have met our reading goal will receive a certificate for a free personal pan pizza from Pizza Hut.

Food Drive – Hope will be collecting food for Shawnee Community Services from October 13th-17th. This year, we hope to collect a large quantity of canned fruit.

Class Auction Basket  – This year’s auction basket theme is Family Game Night!
We’re putting together a fun, cozy basket full of games, snacks, and extras for families to enjoy together – and we need your help gathering all the essentials!
Donations are due by October 16. Please bring all donated items to the 3rd-grade classroom. If you would like to do a monetary donation, those are due by the 12th, allowing time to gather the rest of the items.
