3-6 Grade Scoop

2/18/26

Chapel- Pastor Mueller led our all-school Ash Wednesday chapel.  He led us through the story of Jonah. He thought that he would surely die after being thrown overboard from the ship, but God sent a fish to swallow him, and after three days, it spat him out again so that he could continue with God’s plan that he go to Ninevah with His warning. After hearing God’s message, the Ninevites used ashes to show their sorrow and repentance for their wrongdoing. Because of their repentance, they were saved.  Like the Ninevites, we also need to be rescued from our sin.  We incorporate the imposition of ashes in the form of a cross to remember that through Jesus’ death on the cross, we are forgiven and set free from sin.

Verse to Remember: Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.  (Matthew 6:19-21)

Gratitude and Joy- During the month of February, every student and teacher in grades K-8 is daily recording things they are grateful for. We want to start each day on a positive note, giving thanks to God for all His blessings in each moment of our lives. This brings us JOY and honors our God.

Choir performances– On Feb. 22, Grades 3-5 choir will sing at Hope’s 10:30 service. On March 8, all K-8 students will be singing and/or playing in band at Hope’s church services to kick off National Lutheran Schools Week. It is very important that as many students as possible attend these performances, because we work hard in band and choir to make our voices and instruments blend and balance. If you have a family or church conflict that prevents your child from attending, please email Mrs. Schkade and your child’s homeroom teacher.
