Between Valentine’s Day activities, Presidents Day, and Step-Up Day, not many papers are coming home in this week’s envelope, but be assured that there is still lots of learning going on!
Open House is tonight from 5:30-6:30. Parents are encouraged to come to visit their child’s classroom for next year. Open House is open to anyone interested in attending Hope next year. We look forward to seeing you and new faces, too!
Choir performances – The 3rd – 5th Grade choir will be singing this Sunday, February 22nd, at the 10:30am service.
Please arrive at 10:15am and meet in the Luther room. Please wear your Sunday best.
If you are not able to attend, please email Mrs. Schkade (schkade@hopelutheran.org).
Hope Lutheran Church is a great support to our school, and this Sunday, we give thanks for that support. We would like to see as many students attend church as possible.
On Feb. 22, Grades 3-5 choir will sing at Hope’s 10:30 service. On March 8, all K-8 students will be singing and/or playing in band at Hope’s church services to kick off National Lutheran Schools Week. It is very important that as many students as possible attend these performances, because we work hard in band and choir to make our voices and instruments blend and balance. If you have a family or church conflict that prevents your child from attending, please email Mrs. Schkade and your child’s homeroom teacher.
Book report – Project information and rubric for our biography book reports were sent home in the envelopes last month. I have included the links in this week’s news again for your convenience. For this book report, they will be making a timeline of their person. Students have access to colored paper in the classroom for this project, if needed. The due date is Thursday, February 26, so that we can present them in the first week of March.

Student Ushers – The season of Lent begins on Ash Wednesday and continues through Easter. 3rd grade has been asked to help hand out service folders and serve as ushers for the 4:00 Wednesday Lenten Services beginning on February 25th. This is an opportunity for students to be involved in a way they enjoy and to serve the congregation that supports our school in so many ways. Student helpers can stay with me after school, and I will accompany them to the sanctuary and stay with them until after the service. Please use this Sign-Up Genius to indicate which service(s) your child could be available to serve. It is not expected that your child serve every week, but please indicate any/all weeks that it would be possible. We really need more to sign up! Once the kids serve in this way, they usually ask if they can do so again. Lenten student usher sign-up
Redo/Corrections Policy reminder – Assignments that receive less than 75% are eligible for a redo. Assignments will go home each week in the Thursday envelope. Corrections must be turned in by the following week to receive any additional points. Quizzes and tests are not included as redo assignments. *Each redo assignment needs to be completed on a separate piece of paper and stapled to the original assignment. The first page should be the redo assignment, with the assignment heading, the date, and the student’s name. Students will only need to complete/redo the questions that were missed, not the whole assignment.

Memory for February 26: The Second Article: Redemption
What does this mean? (Part 3)
that I may be His own and live under Him in His kingdom and serve Him in everlasting righteousness, innocence, and blessedness, just as He is risen from the dead, lives and reigns to all eternity.
