Newsletter – January 18th

January 17, 2024

It has been cold and snowy January so far. I am looking forward to warmer tempetures for a few days and cleared roadways! I know that the kids have enjoyed the snow days, but I am ready to get back into our normal schedule again. Thanking God for the blessings of warmth and safety!

I look forward to meeting with parents during our Parent/Teacher conferences this afternoon and evening. You will receive first-semester report cards and it will give us a chance to talk about progress and goals for this semester.

We are ready to celebrate NATIONAL LUTHERAN SCHOOLS WEEK next week!  This is a wonderful event that we can celebrate here at Hope. This year’s theme is Connected.  I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, that it may bear more fruit.”  John 15:1-2

It is Lutheran School’s Sunday this coming Sunday, January 21st.  Our three choirs and band will be performing.

  • Kindergarten and 1st-2nd grade choirs will sing at 8 am church service. For 1st – 2nd grade, please meet in the Luther Room at 7:45 am.
  • 3rd – 6th grade will sing at the 10:30 am church service. 3rd – 6th grade, please meet in Luther Room at 10:15 am.
  • A Band will play during prelude for 10:30 am service. Arrive at 10:00 am and meet in the choir loft.  If your child is in band and choir, they are to set up for band first.

All students will sit with their parents until it is time to sing.  Students are to wear church clothes, no jeans. Parents, please email your child’s choir director if your child will not be able to attend.

Join us for fellowship & coffee hour starting at 9:00 am.  The school is sponsoring treats in Concord Hall. We are still in need of additional help in providing treats. Please consider donating baked goods for Sunday’s coffee hour with our supporting church: Sign up to help with treats

Hope Lutheran Church is a great support to our school, and this Sunday, we give thanks for that support. We would like to see as many students attend church as possible.  Thank you.

Connect Four Games needed – If you have a Connect Four Game that we could borrow, please mark it with your name and send it with your child to school before Friday, January 26th.

The all-school Spelling Bee – Oliver and Jayelle represented our class well yesterday. Congratulations to Oliver who took first place in the younger grades division.

Please make sure that your child is ready for any kind of weather. We will be going outside for recess whenever we can to get fresh air. Students are required to wear a coat or jacket when temps are below 50, so hoodies were OK in the afternoons this week. We also go out when the temps drop, and the air is cold! (We will not go outside when the temps. drop into the lower teens or wind chill is in the single digits. I don’t want to be out then either!) We will, however, go out when it is freezing temperatures. Hats, gloves or mittens, and a warm coat is important – even when we are only outside for 15 minutes.
