Third Grade News, 11/20

November 19, 2025

We have so many things to be thankful for!  I am thankful for the privilege of working with your children.  They really are such a blessing!  I hope that you are able to enjoy your family time next week as you thank God for your many blessings!

Congratulations to William and Hunter for taking 1st and 2nd place in the K-3rd Spelling Bee on Wednesday!

Book Reports – I am encouraging the class to take home the chapter books that they have chosen for their book reports. Some of them are almost finished reading and will be ready to start making their posters! This might be a good project for next week while they have some extra time. Our book reports for this quarter will be in the form of a poster. You will find a sheet with directions and a rubric in this week’s Thursday envelope. I am also attaching a link below. Completed posters are due on Monday, December 15, and will be presented throughout the week in class.

Recorders – Miss Beumer is letting the third-graders bring their recorders home to practice over Thanksgiving. Recorders must be brought back to school for class when they return from Thanksgiving break so they can continue with their lessons at school.

Spirit Week – Starts the week after Thanksgiving! We have fun things planned for each day, Dec. 1-5. Look for a flyer in today’s envelope for more details.

Pep Rally – We have a pep rally on Thursday, Dec. 4th at 2:00 to kick off the basketball season. Parents are invited to attend!

20th MBHC Tournament – For the past 23 years, we have been hosting a basketball tournament honoring our founding principal, Mr. B.  The tournament is on December 5th – 7th.  We have 9 schools participating this year from MO, OK, IA, and KS.  This is a tournament for the 7th and 8th grade basketball teams. We need a lot of volunteers to have a successful tournament. Please consider helping out. Volunteers are still needed. Hope 25-26: 2025 Milt Brueggemann Hope Classic
Remember that all students are singing at Hope on Sunday, December 7th.
Here is the Sunday Worship schedule:
8 am – A Band and 6-8 Grade Choir
10:30 am – 4th-5th Grade Band, 3-5 Grade Choir, and Kinder – 2nd Grade Choir

Advent – The season of Advent begins November 31st. You are invited to join us at Hope Lutheran Church on Wednesdays beginning on December 3rd, at 4 pm, or 7 pm.

Classroom Christmas Gift Exchange – For our class Christmas party on Dec. 19, we will gift each other a book to read. The kids will fill out a survey listing their favorite topics or books. After students draw a classmate’s name for the exchange, this list will be sent home to help with book shopping. (Cost for the gift should not exceed $10.00) It’s more fun if we can keep names a secret until gifts are opened, so the name your child drew and the book information will be in a sealed envelope in the Thursday folder today.  Wrapped books should be brought to school the week of Dec. 8-12. Please get in touch with me if you have concerns or if this is a hardship for you.
