Third Grade News, 2/26

February 26, 2026

Winter Olympics – The class has really enjoyed following the Olympics for the last two weeks!  We have learned about the different events and countries that participated.  The students all worked on either a Google Slides or Canva presentation about the country that they researched.  We have been presenting them, but they keep asking to add more information.  I love it when they have a joy for learning!

Book Reports – Some of the students have already brought their biography timeline book reports to school and are anxious to share them next week! They were due today, February 26.

March 2nd is Dr. Seuss’s birthday OnMonday, March 2nd, we will celebrate Read-Across-America Day and Dr. Seuss’s birthday! We will get comfy, snuggle down with a stuffy, and enjoy time just reading for the joy of it. Oh, the adventures we can go on with a good book! Kids can bring a book from home or use one from our classroom. They may also bring a stuffed animal from home to snuggle during our silent reading time.

Test Next Week – We are finishing Chapter 3 (Oceania) in social studies and will have our test next Friday. Students should bring home a packet of work on Monday to review for this test.

Student Ushers – Thank you for your response for student greeters/ushers! Our first week’s group did a great job and got a very warm reception from the congregation. I am still including the link in case you need a reminder of your sign-ups.  Lenten student usher sign-up

Breakfast with the Jankowskis – This was one of the items from our PAHS auction this fall, purchased by Carston’s grandfather and generously given to our class!  Mrs. and Mr. Jankowski will be serving a pancake breakfast for the 3rd-grade class next Tuesday morning, March 3rd, before school at 7:30. So, drop them off at school early that day for a special breakfast treat with the Jankowskis!

KinderKonzert Field Trip – Kindergarten-3rd grade will attend the KinderKonzert on March 3rd. We will wear school uniforms for this event. Students will need to bring a sack lunch due to the timing of the performance. We will eat in the classroom when we get back to school. We still need parent drivers for this event. Please let me know as soon as possible if you can help with transportation.
