Rev. Scott Schmieding has served as Senior Pastor of Immanuel Lutheran Church and School since 2010.  Prior to this he served as Pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church and Baton Rouge Lutheran School from 1992-2010.  He is married to Susie and they are blessed with two children, Jenna (a nurse), and Paul (a student at Missouri State).

Pastor Schmieding is thankful to God to be a survivor of major tongue cancer.  He had his entire tongue removed followed by oral reconstruction during an 11 hour operation in November of 1997 at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.  He then had 35 head and neck radiation treatments.  Pastor Schmieding thanks God for every new sunrise.  He is passionate about gardening, exercising, music, Lutheran education, and most of all–sharing the Good News and resurrection joy of Jesus.
