6th News, 12/12

December 11, 2024

I am really proud of how well the 6th graders led chapel this week. We got lots of great compliments from our audience for the two skits.

We enjoyed listening to two picture books by Patricia Polacco that connected with Number the Stars. Now that our novel study has wrapped up, we are delving into a reading unit about how modern technology can be helpful and harmful to society. We will also be learning about argumentative (persuasive) techniques in writing.

Book report: Notes were due on Dec. 11. The Book Talk project (test grade) is due on Dec. 16. Instructions, guides, and the grading rubric for this project should be in your child’s Language Arts folder in the zipper binder.

Class Christmas party: Each student should bring two large candy bars. Wrap each one individually in festive paper. Do not write the giver’s name. These will be used for our gift exchange.

Holiday Store: 6th graders should bring spending money on December 13 if they want to buy gifts.

Brrr! All students must have a winter coat at school for when the temperature is below 40 degrees.

Sixth graders: Stay focused , keep your grades up, finish this quarter strong!
