6th News 1/9/25

January 8, 2025

In our first week back, we are picking up where we left off in math and reading, and starting a unit on pronouns in English class and a new spelling list. A couple of adjustments had to be made for the snow days, but we’re on track now.

A big project that sixth graders will be working on is the third quarter book report. Each student will be reading Where the Red Fern Grows and making journal entries for each chapter. A list of the due dates has been inserted into their journals, and those dates should also be written in the assignment notebook. Three test grades will be taken from the journal writings and a test grade will be given for the final project. Please encourage your child to stay on top of these assignments so grades don’t suffer late penalties.

Thanks to all who signed up for parent/teacher conferences. If you haven’t, here’s the link: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0E4BA4AA2AABF5C61-6thgrade1
Please contact me if the available times don’t work for you so we can make a different arrangement.

Grades 6-7 will sing at Hope’s 10:30 service this Sunday, January 12. Students should meet me in the Luther Room at 10:15 to warm up. The students will sit in the balcony from the beginning of the service until they finish their choir piece, then will be dismissed to sit with their parents. If your child is unable to attend this service, please email me with a short explanation of the absence.
