A big project that sixth graders will be working on is the third quarter book report. Each student will be reading Where the Red Fern Grows and making journal entries for each chapter. A list of the due dates has been inserted into their journals, and those dates should also be written in the assignment notebook. Three test grades will be taken from the journal writings and a test grade will be given for the final project. Please encourage your child to stay on top of these assignments so grades don’t suffer late penalties.

A permission slip for our February 7 field trip is in the Thursday envelope. We will visit the Nelson-Atkins Art Museum, American Jazz Museum, and Negro Leagues Baseball Museum. We will need parent drivers. Kids will wear their school uniforms and need to bring cash for lunch at Subway restaurant.

We will spend this semester preparing for the International Fair at the end of April. If you, or anyone you know, have visited Egypt and have items to hang or display in our classroom during the fair, please let me know.
