*We are wrapping up our book report novel, Where the Red Fern Grows, and starting a class novel unit with The Cay. These sixth graders do a great job of contributing to book discussions!
*Serve-a-thon: At Hope Lutheran School, we are called to serve others as the hands and feet of Christ. This year, we are excited to do our Serve-A-Thon, which is like our traditional Walk-A-Thon, as a way to actively live out our faith by reaching out and making a difference in the Johnson County community.
During the week of April 5th through the 9th, the sixth graders will serve the Lutheran Urban Mission Agency and Immanuel Lutheran Church, where the LUMA food pantry is located. All Hope students will dedicate their time and energy to meaningful service projects during our Serve-a-thon, and each child will experience the joy of giving back. Through this, we hope they will see firsthand how their kindness and compassion can be a blessing to others.
As part of the Serve-A-Thon, students will raise funds to support Hope Lutheran School. Our goal is $32,000, which will go toward enhancing our school’s ever-evolving technology needs. Leading up to the event, students will collect pledges for the service project their class will complete. In addition, we will be giving LUMA 10% of our proceeds to support their mission.
Watch for more information in the Thursday envelopes and online — coming soon!
*Please sign and return the permission slip for the LuHi Olympic Day. Include $3 if your child desires the offered lunch.
*Memory for week of March 31-April 4:
March 28 *The Fifth Petition of the Lord’s Prayer: And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.
What does this mean? We pray in this petition that our Father in heaven would not look at our sins, or deny our prayer because of them. We are neither worthy of the things for which we pray, nor have we deserved them, …
April 1 …but we ask that He would give them all to us by grace, for we daily sin much and surely deserve nothing but punishment. So we too will sincerely forgive and gladly do good to those who sin against us.
Apr. 4 *The Sixth Petition of the Lord’s Prayer: And lead us not into temptation.
What does this mean? God tempts no one. We pray in this petition that God would guard and keep us so that the devil, the world, and our sinful nature may not deceive us or mislead us…
*James 4:7 Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
