6th News, Memory, Spelling for 4/3/25

April 2, 2025

*We are wrapping up our book report novel, Where the Red Fern Grow with a final project that is due on April 16. I am excited to see the creativity of each student!

*Research papers are due tomorrow, April 4.

*Serve-a-thon: At Hope Lutheran School, we are called to serve others as the hands and feet of Christ. This year, we are excited to do our Serve-A-Thon as a way to actively live out our faith. The 6th grade Serve-a-thon project is filling food pantry boxes for LUMA/ICOA. We will travel to Immanuel Lutheran Church on April 10, 9:00-11:30, to serve in this way. If you haven’t already sent in the permission slip, please do so soon.

As part of the Serve-A-Thon, students will raise funds to support Hope Lutheran School. Our goal is $33,000, which will go toward enhancing our school’s ever-evolving technology needs. If each student at Hope raises $250, we’ll meet our goal! Parents, use the email from “Fundraising Campaign Update” to get connected to your child’s personal fundraising page.

*Please sign and return the permission slip for the Lutheran High School Olympic Day on April 24. Include $3 if your child desires the offered lunch. We need drivers! Volunteers are welcome to stay all day or just drop us off and pick us up in the afternoon.

*Grade 6 Standardized Testing Schedule:

Wed., April 23 MAP Science
Fri., April 25 MAP Reading
Mon., April 28 MAP Language

Apr. 4 *The Sixth Petition of the Lord’s Prayer: And lead us not into temptation.
What does this mean? God tempts no one. We pray in this petition that God would guard and keep us so that the devil, the world, and our sinful nature may not deceive us or mislead us…
*James 4:7 Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

Apr. 8
And he said to them, “Take care, and be on your guard against all covetousness, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.” Luke 12:15

Apr. 11
*The Sixth Petition of the Lord’s Prayer: And lead us not into temptation.
What does this mean? God tempts no one. We pray in this petition that God would guard and keep us so that the devil, the world, and our sinful nature may not deceive us or mislead us into false belief, despair, and other great shame and vice. Although we are attacked by these things, we pray that we may finally overcome them and win the victory.
