3rd-6th Scoop, 12/3/25

December 3, 2025

12/3/25

Chapel: It’s often a little strange to start December with the Biblical account of Palm Sunday. However, Advent and Holy Week are similar in several ways: the joyful anticipation of the arrival of someone quite special and long-awaited, the King of the Universe arriving humbly in an unexpected way, and God’s promises fulfilled. Studying and remembering Jesus’s previous arrivals helps us joyfully anticipate His next and final coming on Judgment Day.

Verse to remember:  Matthew 21:9  And the crowds that went before him and that followed him were shouting, “Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!”

Candy Cane Cafe- On Tuesdays in December, students can enjoy cocoa and a cookie and help STUCO raise money for our school in the process. There is a jar in the classroom to collect change from the cafe and other donations to be added to our chapel offering. The offering money will be used to help a few families in the KC area who struggle to pay for groceries.

ALL STUDENTS ARE SINGING ON SUNDAY, DECEMBER 7TH. Here is the Sunday Worship schedule:

8 am – A Band and 6-8 Grade Choir – meet your teacher in the Luther Room at 7:45 am.

10:30 am – 4th-5th Grade Band, 3-5 Grade Choir, and Kinder – 2nd Grade Choir – meet your teacher in the Luther Room at 10:15 am.

If you are not able to attend, your parents should email Mrs. Schkade (schkade@hopelutheran.org) for 3rd – 8th grade choir and Mrs. Heiss for Kinder – 2nd grade choir (heiss@hopelutheran.org).

Hope Lutheran Church is a great support to our school, and this Sunday, we give thanks for that support. We would like to see as many students attend church as possible.

Party! – Classroom Christmas parties will take place on December 19. We’ll have a Christmas sing-along at 9:00 in the church sanctuary. Most classes will have a recess afterwards. The 3rd-5th grade parties will begin about 10:00, and the 6th grade party will begin about 10:30. All parents are invited to attend these festivities. Room parents will contact you if party supplies and/or food and drink are needed.

We will have an early dismissal that day with no extended care.

Parent and Teacher Conferences – These will be held January 15-16, with an early dismissal on the 15th and no school on the 16th. A sign-up genius will be coming soon.
