shrouded – something that conceals, protects, or screens in

ponder – consider something thoroughly

stout – bulky in figure, heavily built

dune  – a sand hill formed by wind

vain – excessively proud, overly concerned about your appearance 

scurrying – to go or move quickly or in haste

lair – a den or resting place of a wild animal

mussel – edible mollusk similar to a clam, dark in color

headland – land that extends into a body of water

stunted- slowed or stopped abnormally in growth or development

Sentence:

After running up the dune, I headed to the headland with the mussels I had collected during the afternoon for my evening dinner.
