I trust you had a wonderful Spring Break! Please check your child’s Thursday Folder for your child’s Report Card which was sent home today, Thursday, March 26th. Please be sure to keep the report card, but please, sign and return the white Report Card envelope. We will use it one more time at the end of the school year. Thank you! This week we focus on Jesus’ journey to the cross, beginning with Sunday when we celebrate Palm Sunday- Hosanna in the highest! Thursday we will remember Maundy Thursday, the day in which Jesus instituted the Lord’s Supper, and it will be the day we hold our weekly Chapel service. On Friday we remember Good Friday. We will not have school on Friday as we remember Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross for the sins of all people. Easter is coming! You are welcome to attend Easter Sunday services here at Hope, 8:00 Am and 10:30 AM, to celebrate Christ’s Resurrection and victory over sin, death, and the devil! Hallelujah!
KAP TESTING
We will be taking our Kansas state assessments next week on Tuesday and Wednesday, March 31st and April 1st. We will finish the testing the following week on April 8th and 9th. We will use Friday, April 10th for any necessary make-up tests. Please make every effort to have your child in attendance for these state required tests. Please help your child to do his/her best by encouraging a full night’s rest and offering a healthy breakfast. Thank you!
JOG-A-THON
We are looking forward to our Spring fundraiser: Jog-a-Thon “Running for Health and Safety. Strengthening Care. Supporting Every Student.” We will be having our running event on Tuesday, April 7th, which is our first day back after Easter weekend. Please refer to the flyer and sign and return the permission slip coming home today. Your child is asked to wear a shirt to match his/her chapel family color. Most students are with a teacher other than their classroom teacher. The Chapel Family Leaders and colors are as follows: Miss Haley- Blue, Mrs. Heis- Red, Miss Christian- Green, Mrs. Krzensinski- Yellow, Mrs. Begley- Purple, Mrs. McIntosh- Gray, Mrs. Schkade- Black, Miss Mondary- Pink, Mrs. Maurice- White. Please ask your child which family he/she belongs to, and you can dress your child accordingly.
Memorizing States and Capitals
We sent flash cards home before Spring Break to be used to begin preparing for a final test of the 50 states and capitals. Please help your child continue to practice the Northeast and Southeast states and continue learning the others until all 50 are mastered! We will expect the flash cards to be cared for and placed back neatly in the boxes and ziplock bag provided. Please be sure the boxes and cards are not torn or bent. Please be sure they are stored in the box and bag when not in use. Students will be responsible for returning the cards they “checked out” on or before the end of the school year.
Memorizing and Reviewing Multiplication Tables
4th Grade students will be required to continue the taking the multiplication one-minute tests until each table has been mastered with a score of 100%. These math facts are essential to going on to 5th grade math instruction. We will resume the Multplication Tests for those who need to finish when we come back after Easter. Those who have mastered the facts will continue taking 100-problem tests to improve their speed. Thank you for helping your child meet this challenge and feel successful and prepared!
