Newsletter For May 18th – 21st

May 13, 2026

Thank you to those parents who were able to attend the Royals game with us last week! It was such a great day for a ballgame and time with friends and family! Mrs. Jankowski and the fourth grade visited over a picnic lunch last Friday, which was a real treat. (I think donuts were involved…) We had a great time cheering on our Talent Show contestants that afternoon. Way to go Rosalie! We have had fun with the V.I.P. parent visits! Last week we enjoyed trying some South Korean foods and children’s games that Hyunjung and his American Mom, Mrs. Courtney Jacob brought in to the classroom! We have had so much fun getting to know Hyunjung! He and the rest of the class have learned so much from each other! We will miss Hyunjung as he will be returning to his family once the school year concludes. We will keep Hyunjung in our prayers and plan to keep up with him through emails and letters. Today we plan to visit with Lucy’s mom for her VIP visit! Tonight, Thursday, May 14th will be our Fine Arts Night, beginning at 5:30 pm. We will be showcasing our talented choirs, band students, and directors as well as amazing art pieces by individual and groups of our gifted students and teacher! See below for photos of the artwork up for auction!

Thank you, parents, for entrusting your students to me this school year! The time went very quickly, and it will be hard to let this class go! May God’s rich grace and love keep us as we go our separate ways! Have a blessed and safe summer break! I hope to see you around from time to time and look forward to being back together in the fall!

Final Memory Verses forr the 2025-2026 school year:
Monday, May 18th

“Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth; break forth into joyous song and sing praises!” – Psalm 98:4

Tonight, May 14th – Fine Arts Night
We are excited about the opportunity to showcase our Arts department.  Our music directors, Mrs. Schkade, Mrs. Heiss, and Miss Beumer, have worked with the students all year on music theory, rhythm, and tone. During the evening, each choir will perform under the direction of Mrs. Schkade and Mrs. Heiss. Our bands and recorders, directed by Miss Beumer, will also perform.  Mrs. Bird’s art class projects will be displayed around the building; families will be invited to an Open House to enjoy the students’ work.
Students will arrive at 5:15 pm and meet their teacher in their classroom. After the music performance, students return to their classrooms; parents pick them up.
The 3rd – 8th grade are to wear WHITE TOP AND BLACK BOTTOMS.  There will be a cookie reception in the commons after the program.

Following Fine Arts night, we invite you to join us after the program for our Ascension Service in the sanctuary to celebrate Jesus’ ascension and His great commission for us to spread the Good News to everyone!

Friday, May 15th – No School
Teachers are working on report cards. There is no school for students.

Monday, May 18th – Field Day
We have field day from 9:00 – 11:00 am. Students are to wear their Hope T-shirts that day with appropriate-length shorts.  Be sure to have a water bottle and apply sunscreen in the morning before school! Parents are welcome to attend field day. You must have an up-to-date background check on file to be with the kids. The hot lunch for that day is a Hot Dog lunch.
*Please send an extra bag to school with your student. We will be cleaning out lockers and desks throughout the week, and backpacks seem to fill up quickly as we find all the “treasures” left in desks and lockers over the last semester.

Tuesday, May 19th – Last day school lunch is available, and Yearbook signing in the afternoon.

Wednesday, May 20th – Be sure to have a sack lunch from home today!  We will find a nice place outside to enjoy a picnic lunch on the school grounds with the rest of the school. We will enjoy the fresh air and a relaxing lunch. In the morning, we will have an all-school Sing-along.

Thursday, May 21st – Last Day!
Students do not need to bring anything to school. They must wear their uniform. Awards will be presented right after chapel. Students will return to our classroom before dismissal to get their report cards in their final Thursday envelope for this school year. We will cheer on our 8th graders as they come through the hallways to celebrate them. Then, we will use our normal dismissal procedure beginning soon after (around 10:30-10:45). Parents are welcome to attend chapel and awards!!
