May 4th – 8th

April 29, 2026

Our 4th & 5th graders had a great time working to clean up and beautify the pollinator gardens for our bees and butterflies here at school this past Friday! The students did a great job pulling weeds, digging dandalions, mulching, and sweating! Each one of the students was able to lay the paver stone he/she painted and signed to add to the beauty. We enjoyed working with the Chamber of Commerce members and were treated with cookies and cold drinks! We are so excited to host you for our “Celebrate America – 250 YearsHistory Fair Event, which is tonight- Thursday, April 30th! This is a mandatory event, and attendance and participating is a large part of the 4th Quarter Social Studies grade. We are all excited that there will be NO SCHOOL on Friday, May 1st due to having no snow days this year. We are also excited that May is here full of lots of fun end-of-the-year events! Thank you to all those who will be chaparoning, driving, and enjoying the Royals game with us on Thursday, May 7th! Your e-ticket will be sent to you soon, so please look for it, and be ready to present it at our Day at the K! The office will charge your account the cost of $16. The student tickets were purchased through the activity fees. The MAP testing will continue this week – May 4th-6th.

Day at the K is almost here!
We are looking forward to the Royals vs Guardians game on Thursday, May 7th! Please remember these important items: 1. Students wear uniform bottoms and Royals or plain blue T-shirt. Students should bring drinks that are in plastic or a box- No glass, please. (Sealed water bottles can be brought into the stadium.) 3. Kaufman Stadium is completely cashless. There are reverse ATM’s to convert cash into a prepaid Mastercard to be used in the park. Students are responsible for their own money. 4. At 10:00 am the KSHB 41 meteorologists will lead a weather-focused presentation on the field, often using the stadium’s “Crown Vision” screen to explain meteorological concepts. 5. From 11:30 am – 12:30 pm our group will visit the STEM vendors, displays, exhibits, etc. in Parking Lot J and concourse tabling inside Gate A. 6. The game starts at 1:10 pm. 7. See you TONIGHT for Our “Celebrate America – 250 Years” History Fair Event!
Our students have been working hard on their projects and presentations, and we can’t wait for you to see their creativity and dedication come to life TONIGHT, Thursday, April 30th.  Be sure to invite family and friends!
We are working on featuring “All Things Kansas” in our fourth grade classroom. We are writing reports and creating small artifacts or projects to display that night. We plan to dress as cowboys and cowgirls. We are asking that parents help us to wearblue jeans, a white button up, collared shirt, and (if possible) some cowboy boots. The students will be provided with matching cowboy hats and bandanas. Please contact the teacher if you would be willing to help serve food samples the night of the fair. We would be sure to arrange short shifts so that parents would also have time to tour the fair with their families,
Here’s what to expect:
5:15 PM – Students should arrive and check in with their teachers in their classrooms.

5:30 PM – The American Float Parade will begin in the Family Life Center, featuring student presentations.

After the parade, families are invited to tour classrooms to view projects and sample food from around the USA.

Memorizing States and Capitals
We sent flash cards home before Spring Break to be used to begin preparing for a final test of the 50 states and capitals. We are now memorizing the Midwest States. Students will be responsible for returning the cards they “checked out” on or before the end of the school year.
