January 21, 2026

Thank you for attending our Parent/Teacher Conferences last week. It was a joy to share your child’s achievements and successes and gain new insights! I appreciate the suggestions and support given! Thank you for helping your child follow routines and time set aside for memorization as we work on new concepts and skills this new year and new quarter! We have learned the Old Testament books and are now working on the New Testament books in Memory. We will begin taking one-minute Multiplication Tests next week! We will begin working on the 50 states and capitals soon. We are especially looking forward to our upcoming Topeka Field Trip, which is on Thursday, January 29th. We will be leaving at 7:45 AM to be there in Topeka for our tour of the Capitol Dome at 9:15 AM. We are also looking forward to touring the Capitol building that morning during our state’s birthday party! Kansas was admitted to the Union as the 34th state on January 29, 1861. We will visit the Brown vs. Board of Education National Park in the aftrernoon to learn some of the history of civil rights in Kansas. Thank you to those who are driving and chaperoning for the day!

Memorizing Multiplication Tables

Next week we will begin our one-minute tests. Each test contains 12 questions covering one table of multiplication. We will test on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays to cover about two tables per week. Students will retake each timed test until achieving 100% and passing on to the next table. We will begin practicing with the Zeros and Ones on Monday. We will take the table of 2’s on Wednesday. We will usually use Fridays to increase speed and accuracy for anyone needing to retake a table. Students will be working at their own pace and not in competition with classmates. The deadline for completing and mastering the tables will be March 6th. Look for more information to be coming in your child’s binder.
